Understanding the District's Communication Process

Washingtonville Central School District values open communication with families and community members and is committed to ensuring questions and concerns are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.

When a concern arises, families are encouraged to begin with the staff member closest to the situation, typically their child's teacher. If additional assistance is needed, the concern may then be brought to an administrator, such as the building principal, followed by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction or other appropriate district administrators.

While the Board of Education welcomes community input, it is important to understand that individual school board members, as a matter of school district policy, do not respond directly to complaints or concerns submitted by phone or email.

Instead, these matters submitted to board members are referred to the Superintendent or appropriate district personnel, who are responsible for providing a response and working toward a resolution.

To help families better understand this process, the District is sharing a communication guide also provided by Board of Education members during the District's Connections & Conversations series, which offers community members an opportunity to meet with board representatives, ask questions and share feedback.
