Taft Elementary School students gave an outstanding showing last weekend at the ninth annual Elementary Special Olympics, held at Goshen High School. Athletes from 10 schools across Ulster, Orange and Sullivan counties gathered to compete in basketball and soccer skills events, including dribbling, shooting and more.

Guided by their dedicated coaches Courtney Begley, Pat O'Hara, Courtney Ostrander and Lauren Klosterman, with support from teaching assistant volunteers Kiarra Parker, Ashley Quinn and Sydney Nicolas, the Taft team brought incredible spirit and determination to every event.
The team’s spirit was guided by the Special Olympics motto: "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
“Our athletes work so hard to practice their skills and give their best effort on competition day. We are so proud of them!” Ms. Klosterman said.
