The Washingtonville Middle School auditorium was filled with parents, families, teachers, faculty, and staff, on Monday night, as they gathered to celebrate the achievements of the Taft Elementary School fifth-grade class of 2024.
The ceremony opened up with the presentation of colors and the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of the national anthem by the Taft chorus.
Before each member of the fifth-grade graduating class was presented, a number of awards were given to students recognizing their outstanding achievements in physical education, music, leadership, and community service.
Cheers echoed through the audience as the fifth-grade teachers presented award certificates to each member of their graduating class, commemorating each student on their outstanding achievement.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our fifth-graders,” said principal Christine Williams. “I have been with them for the last six years and they have been a wonderful group of children. All of us at Taft, the teachers, the administrators, we’re all better because of you and we thank you for that.”
