Studying Erosion... It's Just How The Cookie Crumbles

When we talk about "experiential learning," we mean a process of learning that's facilitated by doing!

When we can engage students in hands-on activities and meaningful reflection on those activities, it creates better connections between the conceptual and practical aspects of a subject, and puts the lessons into real-world context.

This week, second grade students enjoyed an informative and delicious Earth Science lesson, simulating the effects of erosion using chocolate chip cookies to represent the Earth's surface.

They applied different materials to simulate and observe the effects of wind and water on their Earth cookies, making observations on each.
