Students at Taft take a look at the Moon in all its phases

Students at Taft Elementary School have been studying the moon! Students in classes have been working together to create a model of the moon and the sun. They observed the phases of the moon as it rotated around the sun and noticed which sides were illuminated by it.

As they studied the moon, they explored important vocabulary associated with the moon, including words like illuminate, patterns, cycle and orbit. Students recorded their observations and explained what the light source was. Students worked in pairs to create a model of the moon orbiting Earth, allowing the students to see the various moon phases through the orbit cycle.
